M3GAN 2.0 – The Meme Queen of AI Goes Full Crypto-Terminator

Forget Skynet. Forget GPT. The most terrifying — and now possibly heroic — artificial intelligence of our age is still wearing a ballet dress and death-staring through bangs. M3GAN is back. And this time, she brought a DAO.

Gerard Johnstone’s M3GAN 2.0 pulls a bold move straight from the Terminator 2 playbook: it flips the script. M3GAN is no longer the dead-eyed murder doll out to babysit your kid to death. She’s our best shot at survival in a world teetering on the edge of AI-induced collapse. Think Her meets Robocop — if both were also TikTok influencers with knives. And what’s cool, is that M3GAN 2.0 is the first mainstream AI flick that actually gets the crypto-AI zeitgeist. Time to buy in to crypto, AI and horror!

Let me explain.

From Meme to Messiah

Where the first film played like Child’s Play with a Silicon Valley meets Skynet facelift, M3GAN 2.0 goes cyberpunk-action-hero. The vibe is bigger, dumber, funnier — and smarter, weirdly. There’s a rogue AI named Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno) who’s basically a Solana smart contract gone sentient, trying to wipe out the humans who built her — a thinly veiled metaphor for what happens when LLMs are trained on Open Source GitHub repos and come back spitting out malware and anarcho-primitivist philosophy.

M3GAN, of course, is the only one who can stop her. She’s like Vitalik Buterin in a tutu with nunchucks.

Crypto, Code, and Camp

Here’s where things get spicy for the Web3 crowd.

The movie’s script drops crypto references like breadcrumbs for the terminally online. There’s a genuinely LOL-worthy Section 230 joke that’ll sail over most heads but hit like a Bitcoin whitepaper for tech bros. Jemaine Clement plays a not-so-subtle Elon Musk knockoff who’s trying to implant brain chips in toddlers and tokenize childhood memories. He literally says, “We’re not building AGI — we’re minting the future.”

If that doesn’t sound like something you’d overhear at ETHDenver, you’re not paying attention.

And M3GAN herself? She’s the ultimate decentralized entity. After being “killed” in the first film, she backs herself up to the cloud, and in this one, resurrects through a dead consumer robot startup like a digital phoenix from the ashes of venture capital.

Forget resurrection — that’s a hard fork with flair.

Gerard Johnstone’s M3GAN 2.0 pulls a bold move straight from the Terminator 2 playbook: it flips the script. M3GAN is no longer the dead-eyed murder doll out to babysit your kid to death. Why It Works (and Why It’s Better Than Final Reckoning)

While Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning got lost in the weeds of AI paranoia and ended up like ChatGPT stuck in a feedback loop, M3GAN 2.0 actually lands the joke and the punch.

Johnstone doesn’t just name-drop Xerox PARC and AI ethics for clout. The film genuinely chews on these ideas — especially around tech regulation, autonomy, and the creepy ways your devices watch you (even when they’re shaped like teddy bears). There’s even a subplot involving public blockchain voting on AI legislation. It’s satire, sure, but it’s also not that far from reality.

The action scenes? Gloriously over-the-top. There’s a wingsuit infiltration that looks like Deus Ex on Red Bull. The final showdown? Imagine Kill Bill meets Silicon Valley, if M3GAN had a Ledger wallet and knew Krav Maga.

Final Verdict: Buy the Dip, Stake Your Soul

M3GAN 2.0 is everything The Final Reckoning wanted to be but couldn’t: fast, funny, self-aware, and actually informed on AI and crypto culture. It’s not a horror film — it’s a gonzo AI-infused cyber-thriller with the camp of Showgirls and the tech anxiety of Black Mirror.

But more than that, it’s the first pop culture artifact that feels made by the internet for the internet. Like if a DAO made a movie after binge-watching Ex Machina, Barbie, and Rugrats.

If you’re deep in crypto, AI, or both — or just want to see a killer robot girl outsmart the FBI while quoting Section 230 — this is your movie.

Just remember: in Web3, no one knows you’re a robot with a kill switch. If you’re ever asked yourself, is now a good time to buy crypto? M3GAN 2.0 is just one more sign of the slow mainstreaming of Bitcoin, crypto and web3 culture.
