Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), one of Europe’s most prominent football clubs, has officially introduced a new digital initiative in collaboration with Web3 firm RTB Digital. The project, known as PSG World, is designed as a fan-centric platform intended to enhance the club’s relationship with its global supporter base. The launch came just ahead of PSG’s decisive 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final, marking a strategic off-pitch milestone alongside the club’s on-field success.
Creating a Connected Global Community
PSG World has been conceptualized as more than just a digital hub. The club indicated that the platform would act as a virtual meeting ground for supporters around the world to share thoughts before and after matches, co-create content, and build cross-border communities. The initiative reflects PSG’s broader ambition to create lasting and interactive relationships with its fan base, moving beyond passive engagement into participatory experiences.
Club officials have framed the launch as a major step in reimagining how football clubs can engage with their audiences in the digital age. The platform allows fans to contribute content, access exclusive media assets, and connect with fellow supporters globally, effectively turning followers into active participants in the PSG digital ecosystem.
New Vision for Sports Engagement
During a discussion at the 2025 Bitcoin Conference, Pär Helgosson, Head of PSG Labs, outlined the vision behind PSG World. He emphasized that the club’s mission is to extend its digital and cultural presence beyond France, aligning with fans wherever they are—whether online, on-chain, or in broader digital communities.
Helgosson also addressed a persistent issue faced by many sports organizations: limited ownership of audience data. He noted that while clubs may have millions of fans, most of them operate outside official platforms, making it difficult to foster direct communication. The PSG World platform was designed to address this gap by enabling direct interaction, data collection, and personalized engagement, all in a secure and scalable manner.
RTB Digital Powers the Tech Backbone
The PSG World platform is supported by RTB Digital, a SaaS company offering white-label Web3 infrastructure to brands and content creators. The company provides a full-stack solution, delivering both community-building features and content distribution tools. Already in use by several other partners, RTB’s platform aligns with PSG’s desire to offer a rich and seamless digital experience while ensuring brand control and technological scalability.
The collaborative discussion at the conference also featured James Heckman, founder and CEO of Roundtable, and Aly Madhavji, Managing Partner at Blockchain Founders Fund. Together, they highlighted PSG’s expansive international presence, noting that the club has as strong, or in some cases stronger, followings in countries outside France. The international appeal is reflected in PSG’s diverse player roster, which includes stars from Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Italy, and England. It was suggested that a half-billion fan estimate may sound excessive, but is a realistic figure when considering the club’s global reach.
Blockchain Integration and Strategic Financial Moves
The club’s forward-thinking strategy extends beyond engagement tools. It has also embraced blockchain-based financial instruments, including the allocation of a portion of its fiat reserves into Bitcoin. According to Helgosson, PSG stands as the largest football club globally to make such a commitment, underlining its willingness to take calculated risks in the digital finance space.
In terms of future aspirations, club executives have expressed a desire not only to lead in social and online engagement but also to become a dominant presence in on-chain and tokenized interactions. PSG World, therefore, is not merely a fan platform—it represents the club’s broader shift toward digital sovereignty, technological innovation, and a stronger bond with its global community.
As one of the most recognizable names in world football, PSG is now positioning itself at the forefront of a new era in sports engagement—one that combines passion, data, blockchain, and community under one unified experience.
