YGG Pilipinas has introduced the Metaverse Filipino Worker (MFW) Caravan, a four-month roadshow designed to provide digital skills training and new earning opportunities to Filipinos. The nationwide initiative will run from April to August 2025, covering six cities and featuring various workshops, career sessions, and industry discussions.
During the launch event, YGG Pilipinas’ Business Development Lead, Phee Tejada, formally presented the initiative. Country Head Mench Dizon, along with Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Director Emmy Lou Delfin, emphasized the significance of digital literacy and strategic partnerships in advancing the nation’s digital workforce.
The MFW Caravan will visit key cities, including Davao, Cagayan De Oro, Iloilo, Bicol, Palawan, and Manila, conducting hands-on training sessions and interactive discussions to help participants explore career paths within the digital economy.
Addressing Key Topics in the Digital Space
As part of the event, panel discussions were held on various topics relevant to the metaverse and digital work opportunities. Discussions included ways for mothers to leverage digital platforms for flexible employment, blockchain-based career options that allow individuals to work from anywhere, and the importance of connectivity, financial access, and blockchain adoption in driving inclusion.
Country Head Mench Dizon underscored YGG Pilipinas’ commitment to integrating more Filipinos into emerging technologies. She highlighted how the Metaverse Filipino Worker initiative serves as a gateway for Filipinos to build sustainable careers in the digital space, reducing the need to seek employment opportunities abroad. She pointed out that the experiences of individuals already engaged in the metaverse demonstrate that the future of work is not a distant concept but a present reality, enabling professionals to work remotely while staying in the Philippines.
A Structured Approach to Digital Careers
Business Development Lead Phee Tejada outlined the structured approach of the MFW Caravan, which focuses on three key areas: learning, career-building, and community growth. The program aims to equip participants with essential digital skills through workshops and mentorship, allowing them to pursue career paths aligned with their interests.
Additionally, Tejada emphasized the importance of community-driven collaboration, noting that the initiative is linked to the Metaverse Filipino Alliance, a network consisting of 61 guilds and community partners. This network will support individuals in their career journeys by facilitating learning and earning opportunities, with engagement in questing platforms such as the Guild Advancement Program.
Government and Industry Support
The DICT expressed strong support for the initiative, recognizing the potential of digital careers to generate substantial income. Director Emmy Lou Delfin pointed out that the Philippines, with its young, technologically adept, and English-proficient workforce, is well-positioned to secure a competitive share in the global digital economy.
Delfin further emphasized that programs like the MFW Caravan play a crucial role in ensuring that Filipinos can actively participate in the growing digital sector. She highlighted that expanding awareness and creating pathways for digital opportunities contribute to a more inclusive and resilient workforce in the country.
Nationwide Engagement and Partnerships
The roadshow will take place at prominent venues across the country, including Ayala Malls Abreeza in Davao, Ayala Malls Centrio in Cagayan De Oro, Ayala Malls Atria Park District in Iloilo, Ayala Malls Legazpi in Bicol, a venue in Palawan, and its final stop in Manila. Each event will feature career-building workshops, Web3 game demonstrations, tournaments, and interactive quests, integrating AI-powered bounties as part of YGG’s Future of Work initiative.
The MFW Caravan has been made possible through collaborations with Ayala Malls, G!G, Coins.ph, Converge, and Parallel TCG, alongside support from DICT and the City Education and Development Office in Cagayan De Oro. These partnerships aim to create a more connected and skilled workforce, capable of leveraging digital opportunities for long-term success.
With its comprehensive approach, the MFW Caravan seeks to bridge the gap between traditional employment and emerging digital careers, empowering Filipinos with the tools and knowledge to thrive in the metaverse-driven economy.
