Moonray, a Web3-enabled multiplayer arena battler, has announced its integration with Coinbase’s Base blockchain. This collaboration introduces several blockchain-driven features, including in-game NFTs, player-owned assets, and token-based wagering. The partnership aims to enhance the gaming experience by leveraging blockchain technology to provide players with greater control over their in-game items.

To mark the occasion, Moonray has launched a limited-time free minting event starting November 19, allowing players to claim exclusive character skins at no cost. This initiative reflects the game’s commitment to integrating blockchain features that offer real value to its community.

Fast-Paced Combat Meets Blockchain

Moonray is known for its intense, melee-focused gameplay combined with visually striking post-human aesthetics. Players engage in tactical battles featuring a blend of parries, dodges, ranged attacks, and grappling mechanics. The game offers various modes, including team-based 4v4 matches, deathmatches, and high-stakes 1v1 duels, all designed to challenge players’ combat skills.

The game initially debuted in alpha on the Epic Games Store earlier this year, where it gained attention for its innovative use of blockchain technology. Moonray plans to extend its reach with a PlayStation 5 release scheduled for next year. However, due to platform restrictions, the Web3 functionalities available on the Base blockchain will not be present in the console version.

Benefits of Base Blockchain Integration

Coinbase’s Base blockchain was selected for its scalability, low transaction costs, and secure infrastructure, making it an ideal platform for Moonray’s blockchain initiatives. The integration allows the game to offer true asset ownership, enabling players to freely trade, sell, or utilize their in-game items.

The integration aims to provide players with flexibility and control over their digital assets, according to Moonray Studios. This shift towards decentralized asset ownership aligns with the broader Web3 ethos of empowering users within digital ecosystems.

Upcoming Token and Competitive Features

Moonray is also preparing to launch its native token, $MNRY, in the coming weeks. This ERC-20 token will facilitate wagering and support community-organized tournaments, further enhancing the game’s competitive elements. By introducing $MNRY, Moonray aims to foster a vibrant and engaged player base that can participate in high-stakes competitions and drive community involvement.

Free Minting Event Details

As part of its integration with Base, Moonray is hosting a free minting event for unique, playable character skins. The event, which began on November 19, will run for 48 hours and allow players to mint one NFT per wallet. These character skins can be used in-game and traded on OpenSea, providing players with full ownership of their digital assets.

Although specific details about the event’s timing and URL have not been disclosed, Moonray has encouraged fans to stay updated via its official social media channels.

Expanding the Web3 Gaming Frontier

With its integration of Base, Moonray is taking a significant step toward enhancing the Web3 gaming experience. By offering true ownership of in-game assets, introducing a native token, and enabling player-driven competitions, the game seeks to redefine how players interact with digital worlds. As Moonray continues to innovate within the blockchain space, it positions itself as a leader in the growing intersection of gaming and decentralized technology.
